Part Two: Watershed Acquired by McDonalds
Columbus, OH (AP) - In a bold maneuver,
The McDonalds Corporation suddenly entered the battle
for music consumer dollars with it's hostile takeover
of struggling Watershed, Inc. The purchase of 98% of Watershed
shares at a Monday closing price of $0.17 left executives
at Sony Music and Warner Brothers gasping for air and
longtime Watershed fans worrying that McDonald's may try
to "Supersize" their favorite band.
"Mayor" McCheese, Vice President
of A&R for McDonald's Happy Turntable Records, was
quick to reassure anxious consumers at yesterday's press
conference. "We are very excited to have acquired
such a fine musical product and we look forward to working
hand in hand with Watershed to meet an earnings goal we
can all feel very comfortable with."
When pressed further for any changes
we may see in the new "Mc"Watershed, The Mayor
once again assured all present that the McDonald's corporation
would be an artist's friendly label. "For the most
part we are quite pleased with the direction of the group.
For starters, we like that they sing in English. Our top
priority, now, is to break the band in the United States
while they take the time to learn to sing in Chinese.
Also intriguing to us is the excitement
that the bald one has caused in focus groups studying
alternative lifestyles and discretionary income.
However, Mc Cheese did not deny rumors
that some small change in the live show would be imposed
on the group. "It is our opinion that while we feel
that their latest music is marketable, perhaps it is time
to revisit some policies concerning stagewear and concentrate
on focusing the live show where it needs to be. We must
remain vigilant in keeping the hot side hot and the cool
side cool. Most changes will only be noticeable to most
sensitive professional eye." Mc Cheese added, "
Watershed fans should continue to expect delicious rock
n roll served in a timely fashion.
