Re: Movie Poetry
Dear Sirs:
It has come to my attention that you are illegally posting
copyrighted material which belongs to one of my clients,
David Covington.
The cinematic poetry you
are posting under the title "Quoth The Sixth Grader"
is, in fact, plagiarized material. It is a literal transcript
of Mr. Covington's 1983 spoken word album, Iambic
Pontifications.
Iambic Pontifications
is one of the most successful spoken word albums of all
time. That being said, I am willing to give you the benefit
of the doubt by assuming that you do not own one of the
fifty-seven (57) recordings sold and the material was
misrepresented to you by the elementary school student.
I am sure Li'l Robby Braithwaite
is very smart in his own right, but there are laws protecting
artists and allowances for compensation when their work
is used. Mr. Covington was not approached prior to the
posting of his poems, nor was he compensated for their
use.
Unless reparations can be
agreed upon, consider this letter as a formal request
for Mr. Covington's poetry to be wiped from your database
within forty-eight (48) hours of its receipt. Otherwise,
we will have to proceed with a legal agenda.
Thank You for your immediate
attention in this matter. Have a nice day.
Benjamin Overbrooke
