Part One: "Can't Be Myself"
Can't Be Beaten
by Time Patalan
The first time was a pleasant surprise.
The next time was chalked up as coincidence. But the third
time convinced me: "Can't Be Myself" wins
football games, decisively.
Exclusively used during time outs at
Ohio State Buckeye home games, the Watershed hit song
sparked a fire in the hearts of players, coaches, and
fans while knocking off opponents one by one. Texas Tech,
Kent State, Washington State, Indiana, San Jose State,
Penn State, and Minnesota all received a whoopin' courtesy
of "Can't Be Myself."
Don't get me wrong, The Bucks have a
very talented crew, but they struggle on the road without
Can't Be Myself radiating throughout the stadium.
What's so special about this song? Clocking
in about two and a half minutes, Can't Be Myself has what
other sports-adopted songs have: a hook, sing-a-long-itivity,
and it sends the crowd into a frenzy.
But unlike "Wild Thing," "We
Will Rock You," "Who Let The Dogs Out?"
and any other established sports rock, "Can't Be
Myself" also fires up the players and coaches. Looking
down the barrel of an undefeated season, with one more
home game left to play, it's important that the hearts
of Ohio State players, coaches, and fans are beating in
the same 4x4 time.
the saga continues...
