| The opening
week numbers are in, and the new Watershed CD, The More
It Hurts, The More It Works, is the highest grossing Rock
album to be released by a band, living in the capital city
of a four-lettered state, on a double digit, even-numbered
Tuesday that fell between the third and fifth month of the
Roman calendar year.
"I can hardly believe it," a reeling Dave Masica
(Drum Kit) said over the phone. "I know the album
is great, but this is awesome. Our fans rock."
Hurts/Works crushed the previous record holder, Royal Crescent
Mob's 1989 album Spin The World, by 27%. The
record was nearly matched in 2000 by Bob City's self-titled,
seven song EP but fell short by three copies.
Colin Gawel (Guitar & Vocals) was humbled by the news.
"Wow, what great company to be in. I mean, I remember
seeing the Mob at The Newport and they worked the women
into such a frenzy that everyone got laid that night.
Some twice. And Bob City, well, shit. My kidneys
are still bleeding from listening to that album."
So, what's next for the new Tops of the Pops? "We
sure as shit aren't gonna rest on our laurels," Joe
Oestreich (Basses & Vocals) said when I waited on him
at Gibby's. "We're going to bust our ass to break our
own record. And then break that one."
He ordered a grilled chicken sandwich (plain), cup of chili
(instead of fries), and a Rolling Rock. He tips very
well. |
